Working with an agency

What does Engage Ads actually do?

Engage Ads is a done-for-you digital marketing agency for high-ticket service businesses. We build and run three things together: paid advertising on Meta and Google, search and Answer Engine Optimization, and automated lead follow-up. They are run as one system and reported in leads, cost per lead and follow-up status.

What an agency actually does

Which businesses do you work with?

High-ticket, appointment-driven service businesses where one new client is worth roughly $1,500 or more. That includes roofing, home services, HVAC, plumbing, remodeling, solar, pool building, legal, insurance, real estate, financial advisory, med spas and medical practices. Medical is where the system was first proven.

What counts as high ticket

Do I need an agency, or just someone to run ads?

If your tracking works, your pages convert and your team answers enquiries within minutes, you may only need ad management. If any of those is broken or unknown, buying ad management alone produces spend without bookings, because the ad is only the first step of the system.

How to tell which you need

Who manages my account day to day?

Engage Ads is founder led. Your account is handled directly by the operator who builds it, not passed to a junior account manager carrying dozens of unrelated clients. When you ask a question about your campaigns, you are talking to the person who changed them.

Do I keep ownership of my ad accounts and data?

Yes. You own your ad accounts, your pixel and conversion history, your creative and your CRM. Nothing is held back if the engagement ends. Agencies that run clients inside their own accounts keep the campaign history you paid to build, which is the most expensive thing to get wrong.

Red flags when hiring

What should I ask before hiring any agency?

Ask who personally runs your account and how many others they carry, whether you keep ownership of accounts and data, how results are reported, what the exit terms are, and what they would do in your first ninety days. Vague answers to those five predict a bad engagement.

Cost and budget

How much does a marketing agency cost?

Agencies charge in four ways: a percentage of your ad spend, a monthly retainer, a flat fee, or a performance deal. The model matters more than the number, because it decides whether your agency earns more when you spend more. Engage Ads uses a flat monthly fee for that reason.

The four models compared / Our pricing

How much should I spend on ads?

Work backwards from what a client is worth rather than using a percentage of revenue. Take your average client value, your close rate on qualified conversations, and calculate what you can afford per conversation. That gives a number specific to your business instead of a rule of thumb from a different one.

How to run the numbers

What is a good cost per lead?

Any number that leaves you profitable after your own conversion rates, which means there is no universal benchmark. A $200 lead can be excellent and a $20 lead can be ruinous. Comparing your figure to an industry average is the fastest way to make a bad decision.

The calculation

Is the ad spend included in your fee?

No. The fee covers building and running the system. Ad spend is paid directly to Google and Meta from your own accounts, so you can see exactly what went to media and what went to management. Comparing an agency fee against ad spend is comparing two different categories.

Are there long-term contracts?

Six or twelve month terms, and you choose; the twelve-month term carries the lower rate and nothing shorter is sold. Retention should still come from results rather than from switching costs. A confident agency can answer questions about notice periods and what you take with you without hesitating.

AI search and SEO

What is Answer Engine Optimization?

Answer Engine Optimization, or AEO, is the practice of getting your business named when someone asks an AI assistant like ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity for a recommendation. Instead of ranking in a list of ten results, the goal is to be one of the two or three names the assistant returns.

How businesses get recommended

How do you get a business recommended by AI?

By being an unambiguous, verifiable entity an assistant can describe with confidence. That means consistent business details everywhere you appear, structured data on your site, content that answers the questions buyers actually ask, and third-party sources that corroborate what you claim about yourself.

The mechanics

Does SEO still matter now that people ask AI?

Yes, because AI answers are assembled from the same web pages search engines index, so the work that makes a page findable also makes it quotable. What changes is the goal: you are no longer trying to rank in a list, you are trying to be the source an answer is built from.

What changes and what does not

How do you measure whether AI search is working?

Three ways: referral traffic from assistant domains in your analytics, a fixed panel of buying questions re-asked on a schedule to record whether you are named, and softer signals like branded searches and enquiries that arrive already knowing what you do. No method gives a complete picture.

How to track it

Leads and follow-up

How fast do you have to respond to a new lead?

Within minutes, and automatically outside business hours. Someone enquiring about an expensive service is usually contacting several providers in the same sitting, so the first credible response often sets the terms of comparison for everyone who follows.

Why speed decides it

What does the follow-up automation actually do?

It answers every enquiry within seconds, confirms you handle their situation, offers a specific next step, and then runs a structured sequence if they do not reply. It is not there to replace the conversation. It is there to hold the lead until a human can have one.

How do you report results?

In leads and cost per lead rather than impressions, with what happened to each lead afterward. Every month you see spend, leads, cost per qualified lead, what happened to each lead in follow-up, plus what changed and why.

Do you have proof this works?

One campaign we operate generated more than 670 new patient inquiries for a single ENT practice at under $17 per inquiry. That is one verified client engagement in one industry and is not a guarantee of future performance. We publish the mechanics rather than a wall of logos.
