Do I Need a Marketing Agency or Just Someone to Run Ads?

Invalid Date

If your tracking works, your pages convert and your team answers enquiries fast, you may only need someone to run ads. If any of those is broken or unknown, buying ad management alone will produce spend without bookings, because the ad is only the first step of the system.

This is the most useful question a business can ask before hiring, and almost nobody asks it. It is also cheaper to answer honestly than to discover after six months of spend.

Disclosure, because it matters when you are reading advice about hiring: Engage Ads is a marketing agency. This is written to be useful whether or not you ever contact us, and the criteria are ones we would want to be judged against.

What does someone who just runs ads actually cover?

Campaign setup, targeting, budgets, bidding and creative testing inside the ad platform. That is a real skill and often good value, but it stops at the click.

Everything after the click, which is where most money is lost, is out of scope unless you agreed otherwise.

How do you know if the rest is already handled?

  • You can say what a closed client costs you today, by channel
  • Conversion tracking is verified working, not assumed
  • Paid traffic lands on a page built for that offer
  • Enquiries are answered in minutes, including evenings
  • Someone follows up more than twice before giving up

If you cannot tick most of these, ad management alone will underperform and the ads will get the blame.

Is an agency automatically better?

No. An agency is worth it when you need several of these functions owned rather than supervised. If you have capable people internally and only need platform expertise, a specialist or contractor is usually better value. See agency versus freelancer versus in-house.

What is the middle option?

Buy a diagnosis first. A one-off audit of tracking, pages and intake tells you which problem you actually have, and costs far less than discovering it through six months of spend.

Does business size decide this?

Less than people expect. What decides it is whether one client is worth enough to justify buying the whole system. For a high-ticket service business the arithmetic usually works far earlier than the owner assumes.

What is the honest test?

Ask yourself what happens to a lead in the ninety minutes after it arrives. If you do not know the answer, the problem is not who runs your ads.

Engage Ads runs paid ads, AI search visibility and lead follow-up as one system for high-ticket service businesses in Georgia. If you want an outside read on your current setup, start with a no-cost growth audit.
